What Are Supplements And Do You Need Them?


Its been a while since my last blog post, so I thought I would start with a common question I get asked all the time, what are supplements and do you really need them?

The short answer is "no" you do not need to take supplements, if you have a healthy balanced diet you will be getting all you need from the foods you consume.

Supplements can be quite handy, they can provide you with all the vitamins and minerals your body needs to function on a daily basis especially if your on a strict diet, you will most likely need a multivitamin to make sure your getting everything your missing from your food. If your working out hard each day you might not be getting enough protein to repair and grow those muscles so you might want to buy some protein powder so you can make a shake if you feel like your low on protein.

If your losing weight and your needing that little extra help they are countless fat burners out there that help with food cravings and are packed full of caffeine to give you extra energy and support because your eating less food.

Most other cases some people have no choice but to take supplements, they may have a vitamin or mineral deficiency because they went so long without certain nutrients or their body finds it hard to absorb, so they usually need to take a supplement to give them what they need.

In normal circumstances you don't need supplements, they do help if you know how to use them right but its much better for you if you get the nutrients from whole foods rather than supplements and processed foods.
